After a huge debut back in January that saw a packed house, blown cash registers, and the wobbliest basslines ever heard in our hallowed Danceteria, the Inner West Reggae Disco Machine returns to Goodgod this Friday for another huge party when its crew face off against Foreigndub in an all-night party!
The Inner West Reggae Disco Machine is a huge wooden DIY soundsystem, taking inspiration from the famous systems in Jamaica and the UK.
Have you met the machine yet? We did earlier this year! As Gonz told us back in January,
“The whole project started when Stevie Dub (the builder/soundboy) built these wacky all range boxes and brought them to our weekly Sunday Reggae get together in a tiny bar called The Hive. Needless to say they were pretty amazing and way too loud for the tiny bar. So that led us to think, ‘well, it’s obvious we need to make larger speakers’. And we did. We didn’t think about storage or transport or how crazy our peers thought we would look like, we just did it. When i say we, i mean Stevie Dub, Rik Sonic, Mooch and myself (Gunjo).
It’s taken us 2 years so far and we are already planning its expansion. Made from uber thick Baltic birch and housing some serious 4 x 1000 watt VOID drivers, this thing is set to give a little wobble. It’s been strung up only a few times now but our favourite time was with the Foreigndub crew at the reggae markets in November 2013. There is some footage of the FD crew on the system at the markets. Was a tops day and joining forces for this night was an obvious step from that day. can’t wait g!”
It ended up being an absolutely massive night. So big that we’re doing it all over again!
Come and experience the bass in person. $10 on the door this Friday, or $5 if you buy presale! Get the full deets here.
