Death Strobe DJs (including Paul Jextra!)

Now... back at Easter weekend we were ramping up for a debut party from discodelicious.com's newly announced local label Death Strobe. And bad fortune struck. We had to vacate the club and Death Strobe debuted elsewhere.
But as the fortune turned and we are back at Goodgod rebuilding... now Death Strobe has become a legit label and can celebrate it's first official release by Domeyko/Gonzalez at the party that was just meant to be! Isn't life fucking fantastic!
We'll be guzzling sangria with some very special GOODGOD friends/guests who are in town for the night (who's going to The Forum on Friday!?), as well as disco hunks Slow Blow and a few other DSR friends to work out the beastly new Nexo sound system.
Once again the first 50 people through the door will get super groovy CDs featuring tracks from upcoming releases and current Death Strobe faves. Death Strobe's first release by Domeyko/Gonzalez will be on sale so come get your mitts on a copy before they're goneskies!

CATCALL
+ ALPINE (MELB) + TONI TONI LEE
|
SATURDAY AUGUST 14
$12, 10pm |
Catcall meets Goodgod! This has been years in the making!
Catcall's one of the club's dearest friends, but we've never hosted her until now ~ for her first show in 7 months!
Catcall is the moniker of 23-year-old electronic pop artist Catherine Kelleher. Since the project’s inception Catcall has transformed from lo-fi beat purveyor to sassy and inventive
disco pop artist. Catherine cut her musical teeth as a teenager in DIY punk group Kiosk, a band famed for their polarizing and bratty no-wave noise sound but eventually discovered their pop sensibility within the aggression and urgency of punk rock.
Catcall burst onto the music scene with her much celebrated debut EP ‘Anniversary’ and has been a radio regular with singles such as August, Chicky Babe and Bad Move Baby.
After touring last year with the likes of Phoenix and La Roux, and performing at Parklife, Homebake and Big Day Out, Catcall is currently putting the finishing touches on her debut
album.
Alpine (formerly Swiss) are travelling up from Melbourne to give live support, Toni Toni Lee will be running the PA dance all night and Jimmy Sing and Count Doyle will be bringing extra selections.

SATURDAY JULY 31
$5, 10pm |
From Jingle Jangle's Smokey LaBeef:
"It's true what they say, that you don't know what you've missed until it's gone, and for a while there folks it seemed we would be consigned to the annals of history like Studio 54.
However, I prayed for days, listened to a lot of gospel and the Lord spoke to me, he said "it's not time yet Smokey", and tears began to well in my eyes and I rose up and shouted in my loudest voice "Lord, you are a GOODGOD are you not - then grant me but one wish before I part this sodden place!"
Well my prayers have been answered because after a 4 month hiatus Jingle Jangle returns to Sydney's favourite backroom dive - GOODGOD Small Club.
There will be drinking AND There will be dancing, lots of dancing, to the finest soul, gospel, calypso, blues and rock & roll this side of the equator!
So please join hosts Smokey LaBeef & Smart Casual ALL NIGHT, as we remove the glad wrap from GOODGOD and turn the temperature up 200 degrees."

Spiritual pleasures for spiritual people...
Fred Cherry
+
Steele
+ Love's Disciple
+ Valentine
Tropical Social Club's Steele and Paradise Lost's Harry Sounds join forces to create a new, all-night, downtown, downstairs, backroom party built for spiritual times. Lots know these two men for their disco smiles, but prepare yourself for something DEEPER... this is genuine jackin' house music.
Lit by candles and brought to you by all local selectors, High Spirits, are dedicated to bringing the best in hi-fidelity sounds and a true selection of left field dance floor music. Trust, this is about dancing and romancing.
This week's special guest Fred Cherry is one half of GOODGOD favourites, Canyons (DFA / Modular). This man is unassuming to say the least. Hailing from WA, he has well and truly made this city his own with inspired contributions to its music and dance culture.
Keeping up with a regular schedule of DJing, he finds time to co-run an independent record label Hole in the Sky as well as produce music for other cutting edge labels both here and abroad. Most importantly he's a friend of the High Spirits family and so are you!

Darren Sylvester (Melb)
Album Launch
+ Scott & Charlene's Wedding (Melb)
+ Dominic Talarico
Photographer Darren Sylvester wrote and produced an album on vinyl for exhibition. It was snapped up by Unstable Ape (home to Bird Blobs, Sir, Love of Diagrams) and Remote Control records (home to The XX, Vampire Weekend) and has been released to critical acclaim.
The album takes its cues from Avalon-era Roxy Music and Berlin-era Bowie. Sylvester’s live experience is of the new-new-wave performed solo with guitars, drum machine and synthesizer.
“A ghostly collection of synthetic recordings for Karen Carpenter, Phil Spector, remembered authenticity and pure pop fiction. Roxy Music, Japan, The Pretenders and The Cars all feature musically.” ThreeThousand
“What he came up with just happens to be a contender for the slickest pop album of the year.” Inpress
“a mix of wit, homage and melodic brilliance… making this strange art-pop artefact an unqualified success.” EG, The Age

SHIT ROBOT (DFA / Germany)
|
|
One of the few DFA Records originals still yet to tour Aust, Shit Robot (Marcus Lambkin) cut his teeth as a DJ in NYC through the 90s and early 2000s alongside the likes of James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem and Luke Jenner of The Rapture. After establishing Plant Records and Plant Bar in NYC, Marcus and James Murphy began the now infamous Shit Robot party, named after Murphy’s crap robot drawing.
Shit Robot has since moved to Stuttgart (and stolen the party's name!) and has been producing on the DFA label, putting out a string of acclaimed 12"s.
Last year's Simple Things (Work It Out) offering of new-school old-school house (!) featured in many discerning critics' year end best of lists.
A favourite among chinstrokers and party monsters alike, expect Shit Robot's studio album to be released in early 2010 alongside remixes for the likes of Kaos and Simian Mobile Disco.
But now we look ahead to his Sydney debut, a night of super heavy-slash-fun electronic sounds traversing disco, tech and house from one of the dance world's best, with hand-picked local support of:
Jimi Polar (Future Classic)
Diatribe (Deep Impressions)
Dan Cares!

London's Sinden requested a small, exclusive club show for his January tour to throw it down exactly how he wanted to. THIS IS IT!
Jimmy Sing, Levins and Huggz are proud to present him in the intimate setting of Goodgod Small Club.
Mashing together the sounds of dubstep, grime, funky house, and other flavors of underground dance, Sinden, half of production duo The Count & Sinden, conquered dancefloors in 2008 with his infectious single Beeper.
A year later they released the more house sounding cut Everybody Rockin and in 2008 they fully embraced the sounds of grime and garage, releasing Beeper and getting signed to indie label, Domino. That same year, they collaborated with Baltimore vocalist Rye Rye for their Hardcore Girls single and have been working on an album for release in 2010.
Without The Count, Sinden hosts a famed radio show on London based station Kiss FM, runs the Counterfeet label with Switch and has gained continuous support in nightclubs across the globe with his remixes of a huge range of artists, including Lady Sovereign, DJ Mujava, Bjork and Crystal Castles.
