OPOSSOM (NZ)
WEDNESDAY MAY 16th -DANCETERIA 8pm / $10 + BF through Moshtix
New Zealand trio OPOSSOM arrive in Australia for their first shows across the Tasman in May. From simple beginnings in late 2011 on a bandcamp page, OPOSSOM recently featured on Pitchfork as "pysch-pop noisemakers" whose "playful, tunnel-vision guitars should remind you of Tame Impala".
Songwriter and producer behind the band is Kody Nielson. Vocalist for the Mint Chicks, contemporary flag-bearers for the legendary kiwi indie Flying Nun, he began recording these tracks after his brother Ruban left town to start Unknown Mortal Orchestra. Kody brings OPOSSOM out into the world having just completed a few months moonlighting on drums in UMO, playing the Falls and Southbound Festivals in Australia and touring the US alongside Girls.
Three scuzz pop tunes now sit enticingly on bandcamp with the promise soon of an album entitled Electric Hawaii. Joined in OPOSSOM by chanteuse turned multi-instrumentalist Bic Runga and Mint Chicks bassist Michael Logie, Kody played Auckland's leg of the St Jeromes Laneway festival in January to great reviews and the band will make their UK debut live just ahead of their Australian dates.
KATE MARTIN + BEN WELLS & THE MIDDLE NAMES
"Let's Meet In The Middle" Tour
THURSDAY MAY 17th -DANCETERIA 8pm / $8 + BF through Moshtix
On the album tour for her debut album, Townsville's Kate Martin and her band almost died! Driving at night along the Pacific Highway between Brisbane and Sydney, the semi-trailer that they were behind burst one of its tires. There was a loud bang, and then out of the darkness, a truck tire bounces towards their tour van. Luckily, the tire bounced over the van, leaving them with only an out-of-control semi-trailer in front of them to avoid. Despite this experience on her first national tour, and after 2 years of recording a new album, Kate is going back on the road.
Joining Kate will be Ben Wells & The Middle Names. No strangers to touring, they have clocked up over 10,000km in the past year alone, driving from their home town of Hobart to all points along the east coast of Australia. As well as playing supports to such acts as Art vs Science, San Cisco, The Jungle Giants, Little Red and Passenger, Ben Wells & The Middle Names were selected by Triple J's Unearthed to perform at Falls Festival Marion Bay 2011, the band's second year to perform on the main stage, having been selected by Falls to open the year before.
With Kate is coming from Townsville and Ben Wells from Hobart, they are both outsiders in the Australian music scene. With each of them traveling from opposite ends of Australia, they will be meeting in the middle throughout May to share their unique music.
Kate Martin's album 'Hand Me My Bow And Arrow' is out now through Shock Records. Ben Wells & The Middle Names EP 'House Come Home' is out now through Green.

If Split Seconds were a football team their pre-season preparation for the 2012 musical season could only be described as impeccable.
Entering the building on the ground floor in late 2010 Splits worked their way into the hearts of local independent music fans on the back of their eminently likeable singles 'All You Gotta Do' and 'Bed Down'. Their self-titled EP released in March 2011 helped secure a place in the 2012 triple j Next Crop alumni, and after three national tours alongside Owl Eyes, The Panics and Jebediah, a publishing deal with Native Tongue and enough "band to watch out for" tags to sink a fledgling AFL franchise Split Seconds are ready to move on up!
And move on up they will! With the release of their new single 'Top Floor' on Wednesday 18 April Split Seconds 2012 premiership campaign is officially underway! A quirky, handclap heavy pop gem taken from their upcoming debut album, 'Top Floor' is soaked with the Splits' trademark harmonies, a whistling chorus and an X-rated sub plot worthy of its own reality tv show!
With their game face on Split Seconds will take 'Top Floor' to the streets throughout May. Accompanied by Sydney psych-pop dreamers Underlights, who will co-headline the East Coast Second Light Tour, this will be Split Seconds first tour since completing the recording of their untitled debut album. Recorded by Matt Giovanangelo (Voltaire Twins) and mixed by Aaron Cupples (The Drones, Snowman, Dan Kelly) and Dave Parkin (Felicity Groom, Snowman, Jebediah) the album is due for release in July…but before then enjoy the view from the Top Floor!
CLAIRY BROWNE & THE BANGIN' RACKETTES 'Love Letter' National Tour
FRIDAY MAY 25th -DANCETERIA 8pm - 10:30pm / $20 + BF through Oztix
Clairy Browne & the Bangin' Rackettes featuring fierce leading lady Clairy Browne and her harmonising girl group, The Bangin' Rackettes, have been tearing down the house at venues all over the country since 2009.
The nine piece rhythm and blues big band's original songs take you through northern soul, jump blues, doo-wop, ska and gospel and they are getting ready to take their soul train on the road with an Australian tour to celebrate the launch of the 'Love Letter' video and limited edition 7" vinyl.
The new video was filmed in the Old Geelong Gaol, which was transformed into "dance gaol" for a day where the band's sentence was made up of non-stop hair flicks and intensive tambourine weight training. The synopsis of "Prince goes to prison" was bought to life by a large cast of vampy inmates surrounding the delivery of a highly confidential, explicit letter of love.
MARY'S BASEMENT A Journey into Outer Space and Inner Funk
FRIDAY MAY 25th -DANCETERIA 11pm / $10
DJs: Joey The Saint & Bad Jackson
+ Special Guest: TONI TONI LEE (LIVE on the 808)

How do we get there? On a damn spaceship, that's how. And not just any spaceship. This one is launching with resident DJ's and first-mates in freakJOEY THE SAINT & BAD JACKSON. Enter the Mothership Connection, Put Your Heads Together and buckle up as they take you HIGHER ~ Elevate past Mercury's Heatwave, drum past the Fatbacks of Venus, sail into the ghetto disco's of Mars, hyper-speed on through the Jungle Boogie of Jupiter, upwards and onwards beyond the Sly Stones of Saturn, and soar all the way to the outer limits of Neptune's neon palms.
The term "juke" is believed to derive from the Gullah word joog, meaning rowdy or disorderly... And this night will aim for just that. The Goodgod Danceteria will be turned into a wild uncontained jive dive for you. Expect all the loud raucous tunes that you're dancing feet can handle.
The DJs Jack Shit, Meem and DJ Soup will playing a big bad selection of deep and danceable gems that make you wanna get all loose. So get set for some of the best balmy Rhythm & Blues to warm those soles and get that party machine churning.

The Culture Club presents... ENTERTAIN US! The Official Book Release Party
THURSDAY MAY 31st -DANCETERIA 8pm / $15
JAY WHALLEY & JAZZ FREEDOM
+ THE HOLY SOUL
+ Shantan Wantan Ichiban
+ Bastian Fox Phelan
+ DJ Zan Rowe
+ Special appearance by Chris Taylor (The Chaser)
The Culture Club presents the official release party for a new book byCraig Schuftan - ENTERTAIN US!
Entertain Us! is an alternative history of alternative rock in the nineties — from Sonic Youth's 'Kool Thing' to Radiohead's 'Kid A', Nevermind to Odelay, Madchester to Nu-Metal, Lollapalooza to Woodstock '99 — told in the voices of the decade's most important artists. It's the story of alternative rock – the people who made it, the people who loved it, the industry that bought and sold it, and the culture that grew up in its wake – in the last decade of the twentieth century. It's the first truly transatlantic history of the decade's music scene, and the only book in the world whose index cites Gwen Stefani as often as it does Theodor Adorno.
To celebrate its launch, Schuftan has invited some of Australia's best musical talents to perform some of their favourite songs of the era at the book's official release party. Here's what they had to say:
"Show me the mosh pit, hand me my nose ring" (Bastian Fox Phelan) "Pretty fly for a white guy" (Shantan Wantan Ichiban) "Mmmm mmm mmm mmm" (The Holy Soul) "Fuck you, I won't do what you tell me" (Jay Whalley and Jazz Freedom)
With the line-up thus secured, it remained only to invite the Chaser's Chris Taylor to kick off the proceedings in a goatee grown especially for the occasion, and DJ Zan Rowe to soundtrack the evening with the exact same selection of songs she played at her year 10 formal after-party.

A classically-trained composer turned alternative pop-star, Jack Colwell is due to release his debut album, Picture Window. The album was recorded at Sydney's Studio Ripple, which also birthed forthcoming releases from Lanie Lane and Cloud Control.
Colwell describes Picture Window as chamber pop, but the album explores a great many sounds and after debuting his latest single Captains Melody with Rainbow Chan at the Conservatorium of Music in an orchestral setting, Colwell hits Goodgod for an intimate and dark evening with folk Brother Packwood and wunderkinds Moon Holiday setting the tone and DJ duo Glamour Attack leaving the aftertaste.

Trinity
+ Jay Smalls
Loosekaboose, one of Sydney's longest running techno nights makes its Danceteria debut with the reappearance of one of Australia's biggest music exports DEEPCHILD[Trapez/Get Physical/Freerange] performing one of his world renowned techno funk fuelled LIVE sets.
As a core member of the Trapez recording-artist roster, the Deepchild production aesthetic lingers within the dark realm of bass heavy, insistant techno and melodic house with scattered references to the mutated classic-disco and soul eras of the past. This is gritty resurrection of machine based music that shudders deep in your soul. It is both intimately familiar and curiously alien. Whilst he has supported the likes of Stacey Pullen, Troy Peirce (MINUS), Justin Martin (Dirtybird), Ivan Smagghe, Matthias Tanzman (Moon Harbour), Basic Soul Unit and Adam Beyer and produced #1-sellers for Anabatic Records, Resopal Schallware, Opossum Records and Thoughtless Music, Deepchild is a world class headliner is his own right.
The second special guest for the night is prominent 90's underground house DJ Ben Feggans, returning to the decks for an extremely rare set. Ben was a regular at parties such as Tweakin and Sabotage alongside the likes of Simon Caldwell, Phil Smart and Sugar Ray, Ben also ran his own night with Nick Field called 'Circles' at Club77, and cannot wait to play some of his classic acid, house and techno tunes from the last two decades in the early hours of the morning.
The two special guests will be supported by Loosekaboose residents Jimi Polar (Future Classic), Trinity (Pinksilver) and Jay Smalls [The Box].

MUX MOOL (USA)
WEDNESDAY JUNE 13th -DANCETERIA 8pm / Early Bird ~ $12 + BF through Moshtix
COMBO TICKET PACK AVAILABLE ~ Tickets to both Hype Williams + Mux Mool - $35 + BF available through Moshtix
Astral People proudly present their first Australian tour with out of this world beat maker Mux Mool this June!
Sitting somewhere on a fly-by style intergalactic plane, MUX MOOL creates music destined to make you feel. From sex-tinged G-Funk to low-end disco and genre blurring post hip-hop impressions, his acclaimed works are stuck in an unseen haze between club readiness and analogue emotional connectivity. Following on years of obscure influence and experimental production, the Brooklyn/Minneapolas-based Brian Lindgred's first official beats came via Moodgadget, a former launchpad label of Seth Troxler and Outlier. With follow up EP's on Matthew Dear's 'Ghostly International' (including a track on their Adult Swim collaboration 'Ghostly Swim') his debut album 'Skulltaste' was released to unanimous praise and support since from Africa Hitech, SBTRKT, Resident Advisor, Stones Throw Records, XLR8R and a slew of future-tinged beat makers with an eye for the stars.
His conceptual offerings are built for performance, enhanced by a live show that will raise public expectations (and sound system capabilities) for modern musicians. Armed with a vast array of productions and corresponding influences, his show dips in and out of genres, decades and the goal to push an audience to its absolute limits (but don't worry, it's still a party). As one of the most exciting beat-makers of the current era, Mux Mool is destined to turn heads and feet on his truly exciting debut tour of Australia.
Astral People presents...
HYPE WILLIAMS (UK)
THURSDAY JUNE 14th -DANCETERIA 9pm / $25 + BF through Moshtix
COMBO TICKET PACK AVAILABLE ~ Tickets to both Hype Williams + Mux Mool - $35 + BF available through Moshtix
Shrouded in mystery and intrigue, Hype Williams AKA Dean Blunt & Inga Copeland are not your typical musical project. Or..they wouldn't be if anyone knew anything about them. From faceless interviews, unlabelled cd mix-tapes to untitled VHS album leaks, their project (and process) is deliberately designed to speak for itself. Their free-wandering sound measures low-fi RnB & Hip Hop to textural Grime works and percussionless Techno, creating a drawn out mix of highly original and contextual sound for audience dissection. After self releasing their no-budget debut EP 'High Beams' in 2009, the duo have gone on to release on Kode9's Hyperdub, Hippos in Tanks (home of Grimes) and De Stijl, where their debut album 'Find Out What Happens When People Stop Being Polite and Start Getting Reel' was released to worldwide critical acclaim. They have gone on to compile mixtapes for Fact Magazine and tour the world, drawing their audiences in to one of the most illusive groups in the sonic underground.
Their elaborately simplified live performance is just as evasive, turning heads in dark and smokey locales worldwide to perfect their grainy aesthetic. Behind an excess of fog and a complete lack of light, the duo continues to hide themselves, allowing their mysterious musical style to take hold of your senses at seriously high volume. Extended amongst a mess of synths and other-worldly effects, it is a show continually changing in direction - unmissable for anyone trying to disect the future of current music. You probably wont find it here, but Hype Williams will surely define interest in the process.
* WARNING: THEY ARE BRINGING THEIR FULL LIGHT SHOW TO GOODGOD SMALL CLUB - MEANING THERE WILL BE INTERVALS OF INTENSE STROBES IN PARTS OF THEIR SHOW*

THE NECTARS

Do you like vultures? Jazz-funk-punk-blues? Songs about teenage angst, heartbreak and boys making out? Overweight guys on guitar? Drunk chicks with microphones? Crazy wicked dance moves? Cheeky nipples? Exploding glitter? Adorable pictures of kittens doing adorable things? Mystery underwear? Chairs? Internet fads? Ninjas? Penguins with ice skates? Jazz scat? Arkansas? Ping pong?
If you were nodding your head to most of that then you're probably a perfect participant for this rowdy mid-week bash!
Last year, the band released their debut EP; Willoughby's Beach and since then, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard have been pretty busy. The 7 piece opened Meredith Music Festival and won a plum slot at Melbourne's Big Day Out. Just recently the band were invaded on stage during their Warrandyte Festival performance and from all reports they killed it when supporting Girl Talk earlier this year. King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard are well and truly gaining a reputation as one of the country's most exciting live acts.
During mid March the band once again teamed up with Melbourne Producer Paul Maybury to start work on their debut album in Paul's warehouse studio. Rising from the sessions is a new song 'Bloody Ripper' and its b-side 'Sam Cherry's Last Shot', narrated by The Dingoes singer, Broderick Smith. King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard approached their new material for the first time as a solid 7 member collaboration, resulting in a whole heap of exciting new sounds. 'Bloody Ripper' is a good indication of what to expect from the band's album, due for release later this year.

THE PEEP TEMPEL & THE FIGHTING LEAGUE
FRIDAY MAY 11th -DANCETERIA 8pm - 10:30pm / $12 on the door
Forming as a two-piece, The Peep Tempel developed their distinctive sound in their studio/rehearsal space called the Wing Sing La. Living next door to each other Blake Scott and Steven Carter recorded and released two 7" singles 'Thank You Machiavelli' and 'Fatboy'.
After adding bass player Matt Chow who had recorded the band's first two 7"s, The Peep Tempel headed into the studio to record their debut LP. The result is a fierce energetic satire of denim, cheap cigarettes and lost men.
They are self-described as Suppressed-Anxiety-Adrenaline and have been declared 1 of the 20 new artists you must hear now by Rolling Stone Australia, who characterised them as "frenetic rock, pointed lyrics and one of the best live shows in Melbourne." - Darren Levin, "Artists to Watch 2012", Rolling Stone, May 2012
The Fighting League's own brand of tropical punk was spawned in the inner circles of Canberra, Australia in early 2007. Representing the self proclaimed 'New Sound', The League combines grit teeth punk and danceable pop with a tongue-in-cheek approach to songwriting. It's music you can dance to while kicking someone's teeth in at the same time. - "The Fighting League", 2012.

Astral People are proud to cross the globe and bring you two of the UK's most hyped up, forward thinking producers from the literal thick of it. In a double headed low-end frenzy, London's star of 2011 BLAWAN will be going head to head with understated bass artist PARIAH for one of the most in-demand club experiences from the globe and beyond.
To put it simply, 2011 dance music belonged to BLAWAN. Besides his white label, Brandy-sampling single 'Getting Me Down' becoming one of the most sought-after records in the world, it went on to be polled the number one tune of 2011 by Resident Advisor, as well as spots in Fact Mag's top 20, XLR8R's top 50 and Pitchforks Top 100 of 2011. Simultaneously releasing on the critically acclaimed R&S Records and Hessle Audio, his in-demand production skills (traversing house and techno with a healthy dose of sub-bass), have been supported and championed by the likes James Blake, Hessle Audio, Night Slugs, RinseFM, Mosca and a host of the worlds highest order of tastemakers.
As a contemporary on the night and in musical status, PARIAH is a name often repeated amongst the who's who of new-era UK sounds. Releasing his debut EP on R&S records (rated in the top 20 of 2010 by XLR8R), his distinctly London sound is driven by unique, unheard samples filtered out into an underwater galaxy. Supported and admired by Oneman, BenUFO, Bok Bok, Girl Unit and a raft of forthcoming superstars, Pariah is the sound of the future; driven, filtered and sustained by the music of today.
Supporting this massive double-header on the night will be Sydney's reigning low-end follower PREACHA alongside fellow purveyor of the sub-levels BAD EZZY. With a long-(inthemix top 10 2012 most) anticipated double-header and the ever-ready GoodGod Danceteria, this is a night of future music simply not to be missed.

BEARHUG "Bill, Dance, Shiner" Album Launch
FRIDAY MAY 4th -DANCETERIA 8pm - 10:30pm / $15 on the door
Sydney's Bearhug are set to release their debut album "Bill, Dance, Shiner" on March 23 on spunk. Recorded and co-produced by Tim Whitten (and the band), it follows the release of the EP 's "To Anything" and "Cartoon Islands". First single "Angeline" is a west coast indie stylin' rock song written during an obsession with Springsteen and his canon of escapism. It's about motels and models and cars and car crashes. It's romantic in the sense of everything going to hell with the best intentions.
Following the release of 2010's "To Anything", the band played a national tour with the Philly Jays and some headline shows of their own. More importantly support slots popped up with their heroes Built To Spill and Broken Social Scene. Looking back at the shows the band remembers being "terrified" seeing Doug Martsch watching them perform. And even more "terrified" when they saw Kevin Drew dancing to the bands song "Grapefruit".
For most of 2011, the band were holed up in their rehearsal space at Hibernian House in Sydney. Many of the songs on "Bill, Dance, Shiner" were skeletons that were fleshed out a there. There was a conscious effort to develop and arrange an album of warm pop songs that fit together without running together.
The name of the album kind of reinforces that, these words that somehow work aurally together but are still cut up and disjointed.

Joined by local and international artists; This Is How We Never Die features USA underground vocal heavyweights AG (Showbiz & AG), Guilty Simpson (Stones Throw), Vast Aire (Def Jux), Fashawn (One), New Zealand's David Dallas, and Blak Twang (UK). Not to mention an assortment of Australia's top lyricists including Solo, Lazy Grey, Mdusu, Delta, Dialectrix and Brad Strut.
Chasm approaches beats like a learned artist with a brush, building on classic principles to create evolutionary new music. The collection of beats chosen for the album vary from old to new, moving through down tempo, blunted soul, up-tempo funk, and reggae.
Lead single 'The Truth' with its eclectic sample combinations, fuses Latin piano loops with brass accents and futuristic synth solos. Bringing a new shine to the art of braggadocio, the track features emcees The Tongue, Hau, and Dazastah.
This Is How We Never Die is certain to be a historical cornerstone reflective of the unifying strength hip hop inspires. A testament to the power an accomplished producer possesses, bringing the most diverse of artists and fans together.
NICK CATCHDUBS (NYC)
Anzac Day Eve Dance Party!
TUESDAY APRIL 24th -DANCETERIA 10pm / $12 presale or on the door!
One of New York's finest DJs NICK CATCHDUBS is returning to Goodgod for Anzac Day Eve! Known for his versatile sets that travel seamlessly through genres of music both old and new, Nick keeps himself busy with a tonne of remarkable projects outside of DJing.
Since 2007 Nick and his buddy DJ A-Trak have run Fool's Gold Records, a label with a roster almost as diverse as Nick's music taste that has seen releases from Kid Sister, Crookers, Kid Cudi, Duck Sauce and Danny Brown. Nick has made remixes with rappers Wale, Jackie Chain and more - and his production work both by himself and with NY's Proper Villains has resulted in remixes played in clubs all over the world.
Not one to shy away from nostalgia, Radio Friendly Unit Shifter, a series of mixtapes made with Mr Drucker, compiles Nick's favourite rock and alternative songs from the 90's mixed together with finesse. Nick has a long history with Goodgod - DJing with Levins and Jimmy with Ro Sham Bo when he first toured in 2006 and then returning in 2008 to play at one of the legendary first nights at Goodgod, back when it was a sometimes party at the back of La Campana. We're keeping the supports in the family with sets from Levins, Jimmy Sing and Nina Las Vegas on the night. Come celebrate the night before a public holiday with one of the best party DJs there is.

CAIRO KNIFE FIGHT
FRIDAY APRIL 27th -DANCETERIA 7:45pm - 10:30pm / $10 + BF through Moshtix
Cairo Knife Fight, New Zealand's electrifying power rock duo, will soon be in Australia for three very special shows after adding their unique sound to this years 2012 SXSW Festival line-up in Austin, TX.
Though the band is only comprised of two men, drummer/lead vocalist/bass synth man Nick Gaffaney and guitarist and loop pedal genius Aaron Tokona, this duo deliver a tidal wave of complete sound that is imbued with a sense of urgency. A sound so intense that Alternative Press Magazine chose them as one of their bands you need to know in 2012.
In a recent interview, Gaffaney likened what they do to guerrilla warfare, turning their weakness into strengths in all respects. The proof is in the riff-churned pudding which is their new four-track EP Cairo Knife Fight II (released via Liberation Music on April 6). The first single and accompanying video off the EP, "The Origin of Slaves," is massive, chest thumping, and blood curdling without losing the bands' renowned razor-edge precision.

BBC Radio 1’s Zane Lowe played ‘I’m Into You’ in his Next Hype section, and Mary Anne Hobbs from XFM has also been giving ‘Terms and Conditions’ a few spins.
He recently supported Toro y Moi and Washed out for their shows in Australia and is heading to SXSW in March, where he will be appearing at the Filter Magazine showcase. He’ll be back in Australia for an east coast tour in support of the new EP, and with previous shows in Melbourne and Sydney selling out, be quick to avoid missing out on tickets!

TIN SPARROW
THURSDAY APRIL 19th -DANCETERIA 8pm / $12 + BF SOLD OUT!
TIN SPARROW
+ Pear Shape
+ Boy Outside
Tin Sparrow fans are in for a treat this April, as the Sydney four-piece has announced they will be embarking on an intimate run of East Coast tour dates to support the release of their highly anticipated second EP. A follow up to the well-received debut From The Sun – Tin Sparrow has called upon the talents of producer Liam Judson (Belles Will Ring, Cloud Control), to record the as yet untitled EP – which is due for release in April.
Having released first single - the Mark Myers produced track 'Hector Myola' late last year, the indie-folk quartet will be releasing the EP's next single 'Azzuro' in early March. This new single was co-written by Tin Sparrow's lead singer Matt Amery and drummer Mark Piccles. When asked about the song-writing experience Matt said, "I think Mark and I are more focused now and have been trying to write more and more together. 'Azzuro' was just one of those moments where it just came from nothing - hopefully that's a good sign."
Discussing what their fans can expect of their new material Matt continued, "I think our new material is still happy but a little more colourful. We are definitely looking forward to playing our new songs live."
2011 saw the Sydney group off to a blistering start. From a sold out single launch and national airplay for track 'Hector Myola', to landing the main support on Husky's national tour. And 2012 looks set to be even brighter. Having secured the coveted spot of national support on the sold out Matt Corby tour, Tin Sparrow will then take to the stage at Secret Garden Festival in March. Stay tuned for the announcement of the special guests who will be joining Tin Sparrow on their April tour.

JINGLE JANGLE!
Celebrating three years!
SATURDAY APRIL 21st -DANCETERIA 11pm / $5
JINGLE JANGLE DJs: Smokey La Beef + Smart Casual
Sydney was a very different place in 2009 all glitz no glamour. No small bars. No rock & roll or rhythm & blues.
Born of frustration at a lack of good ole fashioned fun, Smokey approached friend and fellow sonic explorer Smart Casual about starting a night with the aim of bringing back long lost forgotten gems from 60's pop to southern soul to exotica and all stops in between.
After searching high and low for an appropriate dive without luck Smart Casual approached friend Jimmy Sing about using a venue in the Spanish Quarter, La Campana. Sing had been putting on impromptu nights in the back room called Goodgod . Having settled on the venue the next step was finding a name for the night. While recently organising a house party, Smokey remembered an apt line from his girlfriend prior to the party starting - "I hope you're not going to play that 50's jingle jangle all night". Jingle Jangle was born!
The first few parties were great fun, and the numbers turning up made it worthwhile. Then Halloween hit. No one knew what to expect, but when over 500 people packed the Twin Peaks themed party it was clear Jingle Jangle had touched the right nerve.
After a 6 month hiatus, Jingle Jangle returns to Goodgod to celebrate it's 3rd birthday!
Smokey LaBeef & Smart Casual playing dance music all night.
New mix from Smokey La Beef! ~ Gallic garage, Parisian pop & psych and Ye Ye girls. With tracks from Gainsbourg, Dutronc & Massiera. As well as a Paraguayan ode to Brigitte Bardot.

MY DISCO
FRIDAY APRIL 13th -DANCETERIA 8:30pm / $20
MY DISCO
+ Guerre
My Disco return to Australia this April for a run of dates throughout Sydney, Melbourne and Geelong. The three-piece have taken a well deserved break over the past 4 months, with members residing in Berlin, London and their hometown of Melbourne.
Prior to their hiatus, 2011 was a busy year for
the band which began with a headline slot at Camp A Low Hum in New Zealand, and ended with a 5 week European tour which included performances in locations such as Serbia and Macedonia.
January 2012 saw the release of My Disco's very first music video for 'Turn', a track taken from their third release Little Joy. The video was directed by Stephanie Bailly and David Guest, edited by Billy Brown, and features ballerina Erinn Arnel and an impressive lighting show by Robin Fox.
It was shot in one of My Disco's favorite Melbourne venues, the Toff in Town, and to celebrate its release the band will be performing two back to back shows in April as part of this tour. Little Joy, My Disco's third album, was released in October 2010 to much fanfare, with Rolling
Stone deeming it their "finest yet", and TheVine describing it as "crushingly, terrifyingly great: so
far ahead of the pack as to be in a different universe altogether".
HIATUS KAIYOTE
"Tawk Tomohawk" EP Launch
SATURDAY APRIL 14th -DANCETERIA 8.30pm / $15 on the door
In their short time as a band they have created a dazzling complex sound held together by Nai Palms smoke drenched vocals and foreign melodies, Simon Mavins knowledge of synthasizers, keyboards, latin and jazz structures and how to party with them in 2012, Perrin Moss's slippery drum beats and soul clap rhythms and Paul Benders waterfall thumbs of bass guitar and sample wizardry.
The 10 track EP, mostly recorded and mixed in the bands home in Northcote, is a significant debut, showcasing the breadth of the bands expertise as musicians with attention to every detail in the complex arrangements.
Cinematic in scale, building tension towards poetic releases and head jerking chord changes.
In total it registers as a moody, intricate, elaborate and delicate release. The sounds range from sparse down beat soul, jazz fusion mingled with hip hop beats, future beat inspired with a bed of neo-soul, but ultimately through the musicians unique symbiosis they have created an innovative and rare sound, with little to no comparison in Australia.

WOLF & CUB
THURSDAY APRIL 5th -DANCETERIA 8pm / $17 + BF through Moshtix
WOLF & CUB
+ Sures
+ Machine
Two years since the release of their acclaimed second album Science and Sorcery, Adelaide's Wolf & Cub are back with a cracking double A-side single featuring the tracks See The Light and All Through The Night, available exclusively through iTunes and Bandcamp from February 7th 2012.
Produced, recorded and mixed by studio wunderkind Burke Reid (Gareth Liddiard, Jack Ladder, Dan Kelly) at Big Jesus Burger in Sydney, both See The Light and All Through The Night offer documented aural proof of a continually evolving band at the height of its collective creative powers.
See The Light is primarily driven by a snaky bass line, the reverb rich vocals deliver a subtle but persuasive hook tempered by chiming delayed guitars.
All Through The Night is a dreamy pop gem floating on a fragile falsetto vocal, its amphetamine bass pulse, broad sonic guitar brush strokes and sparse drumming burrow into the subconscious giving the impression that it may refuse to ever leave.
CUTTERS PARTY Ft. BEN BROWNING
'Love Motion' EP Launch
SATURDAY APRIL 7th -DANCETERIA 10pm / $12 + BF through Moshtix
BEN BROWNING (Live)
+ ERIK OMEN (Live)
+ Bobby Boomerang (Cut Copy)
+ G.L.O.V.E.S
+ Tunnel Signs
+ Francis Chang
Cutters records is proud to announce the arrival of BEN BROWNING as the shiniest, newest addition to their stable of artists, and to celebrate his release, Ben is preparing to perform two exclusive shows in MELBOURNE and SYDNEY in April.
Ben is of course no stranger to the Cutters crew, being the bassist in CUT COPY and now he reveals his own talent for penning perfect crystalline pop with his first EP on Cutters Records. Lover Motion salutes both the past and the future, with 5 tracks laden with classic melody and ethereal synthesizer tones. His 12 single release I Cant Stay from the EP gained praise from Pitchfork, and displays the trademark Ben Browning touch: delicately strained melodic and harmonic stylings, with a seeming fragility which belies its true versatility.
Supporting in Live is Erik Omen whose music is a seamless blend of 1970s Californian surf jams combined with a cosmic vision of the future. Their sophomore release on Siberia Records is a favourite at Cutters.
The party doesn't stop there! It ain't a Cutters Records party without CUT COPY's BOBBY BOOMERANG (Dan Whitford) bringing the party to a rhythm-fuelled climax. Hot off the heels of a Grammy nomination for their most recent album Zonoscope, the Cutters O.G. is primed for party as always!
More? for sure! G.L.O.V.E.S, "The Synth Shaman", bike slut and occasional tennis enthusiast is also down to disco with extra support from TUNNEL SIGNS (Death Strobe Records) and Francis Chang, we're ready to "bring it" all night long.

KIRA PURU & THE BRUISE
FRIDAY MARCH 23 -DANCETERIA 8pm / $10 + BF through Moshtix
It's not an old time thing you're feeling. Gin martinis at 3pm are still a legitimate cure for ennui. You may not yet know what the 'mean reds' are, but KIRA PURU AND THE BRUISE will help you understand. Slowly. Skilfully.
Here's how it goes: you'll stand, arms-crossed and uncertain, while KP+TB unfurl an ode to modern sadness in 40 uncomplicated minutes. It doesn't have to be one of those days, when you're there, you'll just get it--languid, sullen, sweaty, spine-tingling. Kira Puru & The Bruise - When All Your Love is Not Enough

DOC HOLLIDAY TAKES THE SHOTGUN "Boot Hill" EP Launch
Paying homage to debauchery and misadventure with their home-brewed thrashabilly sound, the boys of DOC HOLLIDAY TAKES THE SHOTGUN care not for gimmicks. This ain't grabbing the bull by the horns; this is holding the wolf by the ears.
Blues-rock doused in swamp-swagger and set on fire, Doc Holliday Takes The Shotgun make the hard-liquor music to get you rolling your ankles on the dance floor. Unapologetic in their expression and unforgiving in their execution, this band refuses to be ignored.
Doc Holliday Takes The Shotgun's debut release, the 'Boot Hill EP', is locked, loaded and ready to be set loose. Months before its release date, the EP had already begun to brandish its grit; 'Boot Hill', the first single out the chamber stood at #1 on the Triple J Unearthed Indie Chart for multiple weeks, and saw airtime on FBi Radio. The second single, 'Gutter Garter', debuted on the Triple J Unearthed Indie Chart at #5. The 'Boot Hill EP' was recorded and engineered by Clayton Segelov at The Brain Studios (The Scare, INXS, Mick Harvey of The Bad Seeds) and mastered by Tim Young (Grinderman, The Beatles, The Clash, The Smiths); the result is five tracks of high-energy mischief that will kick your teeth in, but leave you smiling.
Come along to the 'Boot Hill EP' launch and get sweat on, spit on and feel the devils dance. There will be party

As rap music evolved into a global cultural force, at least one rap icon remains true to the music's heritage. That man is DJ Quik. MC, Producer, DJ, Multi Instrumentalist and West Coast hip hop legend. In fact, together with Dr Dre, Quik defined the sound that will forever be identified with the West Coast.
With four gold and platinum albums and production work with a who's who of the R&B and Hip Hop world including 2Pac, Toni Tony Tone, Nate Dogg, Kurupt, Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre to his credit, DJ Quik stands as one of hip-hop's most consistent artists and musicians. To his credit he has over 100 million soundscanned recordings!
Six years after his last solo studio release, Quik is back. The Compton, California native returns with his eighth solo studio album with The Book Of David. As a nod to his birth-name, David Blake, this latest release is a candid and insightful project and has been voted the second most underrated album of 2011 on Rap Radar.
Quik's sound is instantly recognizable and has been a mainstay in R&B and Hip Hop circles for almost two decades. In 2012, he continues to mix his legendary beat crafting and witty lyricism and with this new album he has evolved as a recording artist and the mind of the man behind the music, David Blake.

With a sound that melds doo-wop with 60's girl group harmonies and Pebbles' inspired garage pop, The Fabergettes have been rapidly building a devoted fan base in their home town of Sydney and with the release of their debut EP just around the corner, 2012 looks like being The Year Of The Fab! Fronted by the sassy Nat Martin, a former choir girl in Cuthbert & the Night Walkers, The Fabergettes pricked a few ears their way following a recent stint as Triple J's Unearthed Feature artist that saw the band praised for their infectious cocktail of doo-wop harmonies and cosmic surf licks.
Nat now shares the stage with the classic doe-eyed string formation that includes Bec Allen (Catcall) and Cipi (pr. Chippy) Morgan, with their male bestie Marten Culity on drums. Whilst the band pays homage to the traditional 60s girl band formula, they take inspiration from all things vintage and kitsch "The name 'Fabergettes' comes from 'faberge', those decorative and slightly naff Russian eggs that people collect for some reason". Like the band's pin-up poster girl Barbarella, The Fabergettes have a penchant for both the trashy and saucy which manifests itself in the tongue in cheek tone of their first self-titled EP offering. The self released EP features radio favourite "Ding Dong"; a psychedelic surf mash-up inspired by cult sci-fi films. Produced by Jack Prest at InRok studios Sydney, the EP has already been stamped by reviewers as a hit to break in 2012.
POINT BREAK "100% PURE (90s)
ADRENALINE!"
FRIDAY MARCH 9 -DANCETERIA 11pm / $5 dressed convincingly 90s
DJs: TYSON KOH (FBi) + POWER SUIT (Gay Bash) + LUX LIFE

So it's high time to get back that ultimate rush and party for Point Break.
We're not going to limit this to any official soundtrack, we're pushing this party to the outer limits of our favourite decade, the 1990's.
Whilst Bodhi and Johnny strut their stuff on the projection screen, Tyson Koh (FBi), DJ Power Suit (Gay Bash) and Lux Life will be jamming the Discmans with your best and worst memories. So let's hear it for: Faith No More, Aaliyah, 4 Non Blondes, Stone Temple Pilots, Jimmy Nail, East 17, Pennywise, Utah Saints, Primal Scream, En Vogue...

Their 'Suck My Deck' mix for Bugged Out! is an absolute ripper, littered with gems by artists like Tensnake, Bot'Ox, Discodeine, Lindstrom & Christabelle and Butch. What's more, they've hand selected exceptional remixers for their music including Justus Kohncke, Joakim and Mock & Toof, and they've run a stack of their own club parties with guests like Motor City Drum Ensemble, Michael Mayer, Prins Thomas and Horse Meat Disco, so it's clear they have a serious appetite for quality dance music.

SLOW CLUB (UK)
THURSDAY MARCH 1 -DANCETERIA 8pm / $25 through Moshtix
SLOW CLUB
+ Guests
The return of the UK's Slow Club to Australia in February 2012 is without doubt set to be one of the musical highlights of the summer.
Rebecca Taylor and Charles Watson have been friends and partners in rock for almost ten year. Their first full-length album Yeah, So was a musical gem with Pitchfork describing how the "Sheffield boy-girl duo nail precious, vulnerable feelings over the course of their sweet (but not twee or saccharine) indie pop debut".
This year, Slow Club released Paradise an album both swooning and raucous – a take on doo-wop with a frazzled, fragile representation of soul inspired rock. Paradise is certainly a product of a band whose members divide their obsessions between Destiny's Child and Noise-pop. And Slow Club live is as much of a delight as is Slow Club on record. We implore you, do not miss Slow Club when they return to Australia this summer.
As Charles and Rebecca yell "hold on to where you're from" you can practically hear the echoing hordes scream it back. –NME

DEAD LEAVES
+ ENOLA FALL
+ BOATS OF BERLIN
After impressing audiences at festivals over summer, & success with their radio single ‘If The Shoe Fits’, The Dead Leaves have a new single titled ‘Ordinary Lot’ and will lead into the bands’ forthcoming album Cities On The Sea, which was produced by Scott Horscroft (The Presets, Birds of Tokyo, The Panics) and Eric J Dubowsky (Art vs Science, Weezer), to be released in February. News.com has named The Dead Leaves as one of the 12 best new acts to to watch in 2012.
Ostensibly isolated in Hobart, but uniquely switched on, Enola Fall write songs that sound a little like The Arcade Fire, a little like Tom Waits… and absolutely nothing at all like either of them.
Following on from supports with The Jezabels, Sparkadia, & Kisschasy, sets at the Falls and Peats Ridge Festivals and several tours around the country, Enola Fall are about to release their brand new single Lions, and accompanying EP.
As Rave Review puts it… “They certainly are the best thing to come out of Tasmania in a very long time (possibly ever).”

ELIZABETH ROSE "Ready" Single Launch
THURSDAY FEBRUARY 23 -DANCETERIA 8pm / $10 + BF through Moshtix
Sydney electronic-pop producer and Triple J Next Crop artist, Elizabeth Rose, is proud to announce the release of her debut single, Ready.
Layering astral beats, shadowy samples and lofty pop melodies, Elizabeth has experienced a meteoric rise since bursting onto the scene last year. Quickly picked up by the honed ears at Sydneys FBI Radio and Triple J Unearthed, it wasnt long before her self-produced demos and collaboration with producer Dr. Don Don, Never Fear, were being flogged across national airwaves.
Soon enough, Elizabeth was being invited to play festivals including Parklife, Harvest, Peats Ridge NYE Festival and Field Day; not to mention lend her distinct production to remixes for Flight Facilities and Jinja Safari.
By years end, she was named one of Triple Js Next Crop Artists for 2012, with Home & Hosed host Dom Alessio tipping her gorgeous, dreamy electropop tunes for big things in the New Year.
The highly-anticipated release of Ready promises only to amplify the excitement and anticipation that surrounds Elizabeth. The single will serve as a taste from her first EP, promised for the mid-year. So keep an ear out for this upcoming talent as she begins to bloom.

FIRE! SANTA ROSA, FIRE!
SATURDAY FEBRUARY 25 -DANCETERIA 7:30pm / $10 + BF through Moshtix
Fire! Santa Rosa, Fire! are a band that are as restless to succeed as their animated name suggests. Originating with high-school mates cutting their teeth recording and playing, a line-up shuffle and twin vocalists later, and theyre tearing up national festivals the likes of Big Day Out, Come Together and Laneway.
Their hard work was vindicated by critical praise from key blogosphere players Mess + Noise and The Vine, as well as gaining high-rotation with their singles Little Cowboys, Bad Hombres and War Coward from independent stations like triple J and FBi. Sea Priest saw F!SRF! touted as promising hopefuls, and now theyre determined to deliver on fulfilling that promise.
Having bonded with producer Gareth Parton (Foals, The Go! Team, Holy Fuck) over a love of angular guitars and beer, the band nestled into Sing Sing studios to create a polished article worthy of their new-found determination and musical direction. Recorded by Adelaide producer Matt Hills (Wolf and Cub, The Salvadors) and mastered in London by Nilesh Patel (Bjrk, Air, The xx); the shimmering result is lead single Panther Shrine, a perfect portrait of the bands contemporary powers. Fuelled by its central looping guitar riff, it expands into a spacious landscape of dreamy synths, curdled guitar lines and popping bass; all led by the trip-hop chanteuse melodies of Caitlin Duff.

Following on from Astral People's sold out December party headlined by How To Dress Well, they're are proud to present BALAM ACAB as their second international guest to enter the Astral Galaxy.
For the first time ever in Australia, Balam Acab aka Alec Koone, will perform as a duo accompanied by his female vocalist playing tracks from his critically acclaimed debut album, 'Wander/Wonder' .
Signed to mega-buzz label Tri-Angle Records, Balam Acab’s debut album “Wander/Wonder” has received rave reviews from the likes of Pitchfork and Resident Advisor. Drawing comparisons to Burial, Balam Acab uses delicate, pitched up vocals and ethereal, echoed melodies combined with deep bass to create a completely enveloping listening experience. Live, expect spellbinding experimental pop music that pushes boundaries both in terms of songcraft and production. Wander/Wonder is reworked in a live setting, with tracks disassembled and rearranged to create an entirely fresh sound.
Joining Balam Acab will be mega-hyped beat king Dro Carey in his debut live show! Hyped by the likes of Pitchfork, FACT Mag and Resident Advisor and name dropped by SBTRKT, Dro Carey is definitely one to keep an eye on, as he makes his steady accent to the top of the beat mountain.
Also performing will be Thomas William, formally known as Cleptoclectics. The party keeps on going with DJ sets from Stones Throw’s only Australian signing Jonti, Preacha, Wedding Ring Fingers and Generic DJ’s.

That's right, the stakes are high. The steaks are low.
"If knowledge can create problems, it is not through ignorance that we can solve them. It is through quizzes and physical challenges and drinking and such."

Arguably one of the the UK's WORLD'S best DJs - ONEMAN, will be joined bySpanish cosmic house champion JOHN TALABOT and freaky beat conductor BULLION.
The Young Turks are the cult UK record label and party throwing crew behind some of the most interesting musical output we've seen in recent times. Responsible for putting a stamp on the likes of SBTRKT, The XX, Chairlift, El Guincho and Holy Fuck, they're a Goodgod favourite!
Last weekend saw them TAKE OVER AUSTRALIA starting with a full blown dance-a-thon at Goodgod (where SBTRKT took to the stage for a secret DJ set). They also hijacked the airwaves, pirate radio style, with a week long FBi radio slot and on top of all that - a national tour in cahoots with Laneway festival.
Join them for a special encore hurrah in the intimate confines of the Goodgod Front Bar! FREE!
PUBLICIST & HAWNAY TROOF No Rules... For The People
WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 8 -DANCETERIA 8pm / $20 + BF through Moshtix (coming soon)
PUBLICIST
HAWNAY TROOF
New Zealands Camp Alowhum finds Trans Am's Sebastian Thomson on call as PUBLICIST... and the musical mischieveous HAWNAY TROOF both stopping in on Australian door steps for a night of street buckling mania.
"PUBLICIST is Sebastian Thomson, drum banger of such awesome indie disco staples as Weird War and Trans Am. This new incarnation takes the shimmering sexghost of disco and pummels it into a sleek panther that leaps from shadow to shadow briefly glimpsed in the reflection of disco lights on the effervescent surface of a flute of champagne." 20 Jazz Funk Greats
Avoiding pigeonholes often means career suicide, yet somehow HAWNAY TROOF, the solo outlet of Vice Cooler, has defied the trends and the odds to create a world of his own. Over the course of six releases, he has mixed drive, impulsiveness, and an ever-evolving vision to create some truly unique sounds.
Over the years, Hawnay Troof has known the power of surprise. This is someone who once fell off a stage into a lake during a show, yet somehow went on to win accolades on MTV and play to tens of thousands of screaming kids at rock festivals. He lives by the motto from Out Of Teen: "Live for no rules."

SISSY feat DJ NITA (NYC)
SATURDAY FEBRUARY 11 -DANCETERIA 10pm / $20 + BF via Eventbrite
DJ NITA (Brooklyn NYC, exclusive set!)
+ DJ SVETA
+ DJ BOOTH
with DJ NITA
While everybody is high fiving and congratulating themselves for reclaiming 'nerd' and 'geek' from their high school oppressors, In the Dark are forging ahead. Fighting another battle in the war of liberating mildly insulting epithets from bondage and giving them back to the brave warriors who have suffered their slings and arrows.
So. Sissys: you're up. At the preview, though it was less a preview and more a benediction, The Undisputed Queen of Sissy Bounce, The Queen Diva herself, Big Freedia gave her blessings and inaugurated proceedings. And now that the head sissys have found their footing, lost it because come on look at those heels, then found it again, they are proud to present New York City's own DJ NITA at the official launch.
Nita cut his performing and DJing teeth in Kevin Aviance's legendary House of Aviance. Which is like your high school physics teacher casually mentioning that he studied under Einstein. A very gay, black, transgendered Einstein. Nita's sets actually deserve all the breathless superlatives that have been ascribed to them. Dense, house-inflected epics that display the attention span of a hummingbird with ADHD. All on three decks, no less. He'll be ably assisted by locals Sveta and DJ Booth.
There it is, Sissys. It's all up to you now. And watch out milquetoasts. You're next.
Sydney’s CATCALL (aka Catherine Kelleher) makes a welcome return to the live scene and will be playing a special headline show at Goodgod on Wednesday, 1 Feb.
Her new band features Andrew Elston (aka Toni-Toni Lee), Al Grigg (Red Riders/Palms), Simon Parker (Damn Arms/Lost Valentinos) and Bec Allen (The Fabergettes). This is their first headline appearance, and follows from their recent shows supporting CSS.
Head along to hear Catcall singles SWIMMING POOL and SATELLITES, plus new tracks from her highly anticipated debut album THE WARMEST PLACE, release details soon to be announced.

SUN ARAW & PRINCE RAMA
WEDNESDAY JANUARY 25 -DANCETERIA 9pm / $20 +BF through Moshtix
PRINCE RAMA (USA)
SUN ARAW (USA) + HOLY BALM
+ RITES WILD
US psych-pop bedfellows SUN ARAW and PRINCE RAMA head down under this Summer! The bands will join forces for a kaleidoscopic show bringing their dubby dance jams and transcendental melodies into the heart of Goodgod country!
SUN ARAW has performed in the US, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand with hundreds of artists, including luminaries like Christian Fennesz and Konono No. 1. Sometimes compared to Animal Collective, Sun Araw's music is trippy, organic and deeply psychedelic, drawing on inspiration from afrobeat, west coast '60s psych, Neil Young and krautrock. But it's more than mere imitation: present is a real contemporary sense of inspiration, which is why Sun Araw's music is heads and shoulders above the pack.
Comprised of sisters Taraka and Nimai Larson and their friend Michael Collins, PRINCE RAMA were raised on a Hare Krishna commune in Florida, educated at an art school in Boston, and now make noise in Brooklyn. The music of Prince Rama sifts through the global landscape of trance-induction, drawing inspiration from Krishna chants, horror soundtracks, revelatory psychedelic explorations, and the codeine drone of slowed and chopped rap. Their latest album Trust Now, which was produced by Scott Colburn (Arcade Fire, Animal Collective), is an epic shrine of swirling synths, pulsing guitars and thunder drums. An ethereal chorus of voices and anthemic melodies create a reverb-washed mine of sonic artifacts drawing from southeast Asian rituals, krautrock legacies, chopped and screwed homages, hallucinatory operas and dance hall psychedelia. Prince Rama's live set, honed by ceaseless touring throughout the last three years, is a terrifying, celebratory and transcendent experience.

DEREB THE AMBASSADOR
THURSDAY JANUARY 26 -DANCETERIA 8pm / $18 +BF through Moshtix
DEREB THE AMBASSADOR
+ Asthmatix
Dereb The Ambassador's repertoire unites a classic jazz-fusion sounds of 60's-70's Ethiopia now becoming increasingly popular around the globe, as well as shoulder-shakingly rhythmical incarnations of traditional Ethiopian tunes, and of course a swagful of spicy, hypnotic originals.
Born in Ethiopia, Dereb Desalegn (aka Dereb the Ambassador) grew up surrounded by a family of musicians, and from an early age was completely immersed in his home country's richly unique melange of sounds, rhythms and musical styles. Now based in Sydney, Dereb's musical career has gained considerable momentum over the past year with the release of an acclaimed debut album and several Australian performances at venues in Sydney and Melbourne as well as at larger festivals such as Womadelaide.
As word about Dereb continues to spread, his mind-blowing vocal talents and addictive brand of Ethio-soul enthrals a growing fan base of happily music-savvy folk who know there's more to life than three-chord guitar rock. Backed by a ridiculously tight seven-piece ensemble that boasts some of the hardest-working musicians on the Sydney scene, Dereb the Ambassador taps into territory hitherto uncharted on local stages, and in doing so breathes a kaleidoscope of texture into the possibilities for music in Australia.
And as if that's not enough: supporting Dereb are the cheeky, self-proclaimed 21st-century diasporic hip-hopsters, the Asthmatix. This energetic four-piece perform daring feats of genre-crossing to create a dizzying mash-up of klezmer, hip hop, middle eastern melodies and good old-fashioned turntablism that's more than worth checking out live.
Sounds hot? You betcha. This one is set to strike the musical motherlode – definitely not to be missed.

Mess & Noise Lunchbox Series #16
EXPATRIATE
FRIDAY JANUARY 20 -DANCETERIA 1pm / FREE
For the second time in its short history, the M+N Lunchbox series will head to Sydney for a free lunchtime performance by Expatriate at Goodgod!
The band, who recently returned to Australia following an extended stint in Europe, will play a set of songs from their forthcoming second albumHyper/Hearts, including new single ‘Miracle Mile’. The follow-up to 2007 debut In TheMidst Of This, the album was recorded at Monnow Valley Studios in Wales with producer Andy Savours (PNAU, The Killers) and completed at Expatriate’s home studio in Berlin. It’ll be out through Dew Process in the first half of 2012.
In a soon-to-be-published interview with M+N, frontman Ben King said the title was a reference to the band’s experiences over the past few years, which included a 26-date arena tour as main support to Placebo; sold-out headline shows in Switzerland, France, Germany, UK and Greece; and a run of festival dates in the European summer.
“We were living in this hyper state of experience,” he told M+N. “We were a band in Australia who put a record out [In The Midst Of This] that did OK, and then we got picked up by a really great management company in the UK, who gave us the opportunity to go over to Europe. We put the record out and toured and did everything you’d dream of doing. After leaving here [Austrlia] we went through this rush of experience … We had no idea what we were walking into.”
M+N’s Lunchbox series made its Sydney debut with a performance by Gareth Liddiard as part of Sydney Festival in January this year. Other recent performances have included The Howling Bells, Adalita, The Panics, Henry Wagons and The Vasco Era.
As always, the performance will be recorded for later consumption on M+N TV. Check out photos, videos and news about upcoming events at their dedicated Lunchbox page.

Calling all Techno fiends! Subsonic returns for its first party of the new year on Saturday 21 January, a joint venture with techno tuesday and headlined by Italy's Cesare Marchese, aka Cesare vs Disorder, the force behind the Mean and Serialism labels.
Cesare vs Disorder is a resident DJ at renowned Berlin club Kater Holzig (formerly Bar25), and returns Down Under for the first time since his performance at the inaugural Subsonic Music Festival back in that acid-washed summer of '09. Since that tour, Cesare's club credentials have continued to grow markedly as he has released on labels like Vakant and had his tracks featured on Sven Vath's'Sound of the Tenth Season' Cocoon mix, Konrad Black'sWatergate compilation (under his Queen Atom moniker) and, most recently, Damian Lazarus’ acclaimed 'Get Lost Vol.4' on CrossTown Rebels.
As Resident Advisor lauded, "for sheer hedonistic exuberance and the type of body-pummeling rhythms that will have you dancing like a loon, look no further than Cesare Marchese". So without further ado, Subsonic and techno tuesday invite you to do exactly that and experience the hedonistic exuberance of Cesare vs Disorder first hand in the intimate confines of Goodgod.

We regret to inform that the DRO CAREY SHOW HAS BEEN CANCELLED due to his ongoing struggle with depression. A media release outlining the conditions of the cancellation can be read here, and a personal apology from Dro here. Our thoughts and support goes out to Dro and all those affected by this unforgiving llness.
In light of these events, Astral People and Goodgod have decided to adress this difficult issue with some agency. We've replaced Saturday night's gig with a Beyond Blue charity event with 100% of all door proceeds and 50% of all bar proceedings going to “Beyond Blue” to help those struggling with depression.
If there’s anything we have learnt recently it's that depression is something that affects atleast someone in most of our lives. Most people go on fighting it by themselves and think they are alone in their struggle. It’s a condition that can come back to haunt them even when the individual thinks they are in full control of it. We are hoping that the Sydney electronic music scene and others alike will band together to support this very relevant cause in our society today. One of the greatest misconceptions is that depression is something that affects only those of old age however it’s prevalence amongst our youth today is quite substantial. Our aim with this event is to increase awareness of the condition amongst our younger generations and in turn take a small step in helping those with the mental illness get the help and support they deserve.
Beyond Blue Mission Statement:
“Our mission is to provide a national focus and community leadership to increase the capacity of the broader Australian community to prevent depression and respond effectively. We aim to build a society that understands and responds to the personal and social impact of depression, works actively to prevent it, and improves the quality of life for everyone affected.”

BLOOD ORANGE (NYC)
THURSDAY JAN 5 -DANCETERIA 8pm / $33 +BF through Moshtix
BLOOD ORANGE (NYC)
+WIN WIN (Vice Records/US)
Life moves pretty fast, and Devonte Hynes keeps busy. Following the huge acclaim for his previous incarnation, the Houston-born, Essex-raised, 25 year-old indie bratpack posterboy artist formerly known as Lightspeed Champion completely lost his voice and took a hiatus. Following major surgery, not speaking a word for two months; Dev re-learned to talk, re-learned to sing and reincarnated himself as Blood Orange, the one-man DIY project showing off his new voice on album, Coastal Grooves telling his tales of love and loneliness.
Blood Orange songs are subtly layered, stripped-down, bedroom-built electronic compositions. They thread a heartstring-tugging line from the angst and urgency of new wave, through eighties power-pop, to the bounce and sex of American swing and R&B.
There's a palpable new obsession with oriental melodies, much technical electric guitar shredding, and on top of it all, Dev's gobsmacking new vocal style. He's gone from 'guy-singing-in-a-band' to 'virtuoso-soul-crooner-who-sounds-like-Prince's-edgier-little-sister. The result is intoxicating and addictive; a moody and atmospheric pop alchemy.
"Devont Hynes's latest project is an irresistible synthesis of Eighties sounds, from galloping power-pop to rich funk-soul shudder. Hyness voice is refined into an emotive croon." The Telegraph UK, 5/5
Just announced! Supports come in the form of hotly-tipped, experimental psych-dance production outfit, and Vice Records signees WIN WIN.

JOYRIDE AND THE ACCIDENTS
ALPHAMAMA + DJ LEVINS

Spinning hip hop and R&B on the night are DJs Levins, Shantan Wantan Ichiban and Joyride.
Being a
Christmas party, you can expect a Destiny’s Child style carol or two, and even more drunken random hook ups than the last one (mistletoe in the building!)
Got suggestions on what Joyride and Alphamama should cover? Let them know on their wall.
SNAKADAKTAL EP Launch
WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 14 -DANCETERIA 8pm / SOLD OUT!!!
It's almost uncanny how young and talented these guys are! Snakadaktal was formed in early 2010, when five school friends - Sean, Barna, Joseph, Phoebe and Jarrah - began experimenting and exploring with blends and variations of fun dreamy pop. That same year they recorded a demo of a song called "Air" in a small recording studio at their school and posted it on triple j's Unearthed.
After almost immediate praise, the band later entered Triple J's Unearthed High and in June uploaded their first officially produced single Chimera, accompanied by a beautiful video clip shot over two days! It's pretty darn special. Check it out ~
After winning Unearthed high, garnering mountains of praise, and heaps of radio play later, these young guns are hitting the road to show us what they've got!
Fresh off a thirteen date New Zealand tour, THE CHECKS are amped to showcase new tracks off their forthcoming album, Deadly Summer Sway featuring their latest single Candyman Shimmer.
Amongst all the praise and comments for Candyman Shimmer, the band's own description of the song is the one that sells it to us! ~
“Candyman Shimmer is really all about you and your stinking mate in a clapped out 1.3 litre Fiat Uno chain smoking cigarettes hooning past two slick fellas in expensive suits cruising the motorway in a silver Porche. You pull your blue jumper over your eyes as you boost along and think about the Barbados coastline.”
THE CHECKS possess a uniquely blended sound, and life altering live show developed over 9 years of touring and three albums worth of studio time. Combined with an unlimited source of raw energy, the dance provoking, guitar cooking internationally tested rock tracks never fail to drive the show into a frenzy whether it’s from the corner of your living room, King Tut’s in Glasgow or the stadium engulfing stage of AC/DC. Don’t miss THE CHECKS live Australian debut of Deadly Summer Sway.

ASTRAL PEOPLE presents...
HOW TO DRESS WELL (NYC)
WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 7 -DANCETERIA 8pm / $22 +BF through Moshtix
HOW TO DRESS WELL (NYC) + Wintercoats
+ Albatross + DJs: Preacha, Wedding Ring Fingers
Astral People are proud to present Brooklyn-via-Cologne’s How To Dress Well as their first international guest to enter the Astral Galaxy.
On his first ever Australian Tour, How To Dress Well aka Tom Krell will bring his brand of unique reverb-soaked ethereal glo-fi r&b to the Goodgod intimacies., alongside Astral sonic explorers Wintercoats (performing a half originals/R&B covers set), Albatross and DJ’s Preacha and The Wedding Ring Fingers.
Impressing critics with the release of his album ‘Love Remains’, a concoction of disarming beautiful vocals, reverb-drenched falsetto and bone-rattling, sparse percussion, Pitchfork awarded ‘Love Remains’ an 8.7 and How To Dress Well was named in Stereogum’s Best New Bands of 2010.
How To Dress Well, will recreate the sounds of ‘Love Remains’ in a live setting, bringing his intensity and emotional ambiguity to the foreground for what is sure to be a spellbinding show.
BIG FREEDIA + JUICEBOXXX (USA) (Booty Booty Booty, X-mASS Everywhere)
THURSDAY DECEMBER 8 -DANCETERIA 9pm / Early Bird ~ $15 +BF through Moshtix
In the tradition of eccentric, loosey goosey celebrations, GOODGOD is set to put the ASS in ChristmASS with two ludicrous MCs from the US of A... New Orleans Queen Diva BIG FREEDIA will be joined by Milwaukee's maniac JUICEBOXXX for a Christmas party like no other. It's aptly called BOOTY, BOOTY, BOOTY (ChristmASS Everywhere).
Big Freedia (pronounced "Free-da") is the undisputed "Queen Diva" of Bounce music. Bounce music rose out of the cultural hot pot of New Orleans street parties and is recognisable by its big booming dance rhythms and it's engaging call-and-response lyrics. Big Freedia is at the forefront of a subgenre of Bounce, reserved for self proclaimed "Sissies". That's a locally used term to describe sexually ambiguous and cross dressing club artists. For the first time ever this Christmas, we'll get to experience first hand the flamboyant energy of an authentic genre-bending rap star. We're expecting our little Danceteria to get very, very loud when Freedia channels that colourful New Orleans energy, performing hits like "Azz Everywhere" and "Gin in my System."
Juiceboxxx is the musical antihero of his quaint Milwaukee home. Toting snot-nosed punk ethos and a whole lot of energy, this young white rapper puts his heart and soul on the line with every performance. But there are absolutely no gimmicks here, Juiceboxxx is as earnest as he is boisterous and he'll transport us to a whole 'nother planet when he takes the stage. His energy has seen him tour with the likes of Public Enemy, Spank Rock, and Diplo and he's collaborated with heavy-hitting producers AC Slater, Dre Skull and XXXChange. This is his first time down under so prepare yourselves! Prepare to dance, prepare laugh, but most of all prepare to lose yourself in a frenzy of sweat-inducing- anarchic indie-dance-rap.

Recorded with Simon Grounds (Kes Band, Laura Jean, Bird Blobs), their latest album Tambourine is out now via Dot Dash / Remote Control.
With an all new line-up featuring Max Doyle (guitar/vocals), Ela Stiles (bass/vocals), Cameron Emerson-Elliott (guitar), Ben James (drums) and Jules Ferrari (keys), Songs return for their first Sydney show in like forever. DAS MOTH
TUNNEL SIGNS
FRANCIS CHANG
Cut Copy's boutique label CUTTERS RECORDS is putting on a party at the end of November to celebrate the release of KNIGHTLIFE's long awaited new 8 track EP titled 'I Want You'. Knightlife came to real life in 2007, when Gamwell was coaxed into sharing his dancefloor follies by the boys from Cut Copy. They released Knightlife I on their Cutters label, and remixes followed for the likes of Midnight Juggernauts, Bag Raiders, Alex Gopher and Cut Copy themselves as well as his second EP, Knightlife II. Shortly after his talent was recognised by TRIPLE J, making him a part of their unearthed series. His reputation with those appreciators of classic house given a contemporary twist grew, and saw him start DJing a mix of French touch, classic house and future disco around Australia and the globe.
Check out Knightlife's mix for Cut Copy's Zonoscope tour. 34 minutes of spacey disco brilliance! ~
Joining KNIGHTLIFE at his EP launch after a year of overseas touring with their recent album Zonoscope are Cutters label bosses and globe-trotting CUT COPY band members under the guise of CUTTERS DJs. Also fresh off the plane is DAS MOTH, a Tokyo resident who released his debut 12" on Cutters earlier this year and has spent much of his year touring in Europe and the US. A special guest on the night is TUNNEL SIGNS who is set to release a debut 12" on Sydney Label Deathstrobe and also Cutters party regular FRANCIS CHANG.

Sailor Jerry presents...
VELOCIRAPTOR + DUNE RATS
WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 23 -DANCETERIA 8pm / $10 ON THE DOOR
VELOCIRAPTOR
DUNE RATS
The good folk at Sailor Jerry are putting on a show with two bands spicy enough to match their traditional spiced rum.
All hail Velociraptor! They're not just a band, they're a righteous gang! With 12 (yep, twelve) members that preach the word of jangly 60's inspried garage pop. Their sound is big, and bold with smirks of humour mixed in. But it's live on stage where they really shine! An orchestra of guitars and gang vocals, surprisingly cohesive, bring their shimmying sounds to life.
The Dune Rats are two dirty haired, fun dudes who make fittingly dirty, fun garage rock. The influence of their sunny Queensland home shines through with every song. It's as if everything they write has been covered with a blanket of good time summer nostalgia and childhood recklessness.
Mistletone proudly presents the return of Melbourne-born, London-based HTRK in their first Australian tour for over five years.
HTRK is Jonnine Standish and Nigel Yang, a two-piece live electronic/noise/avant pop/rock act known for their subtlety of gesture and stubbornly languorous performances and capable of seducing audiences through disciplined waves of sonics, crisp 808 beats and soft, calm threats.
From the mid-2000s, HTRK (pronounced “haterock”) toured Europe extensively at the personal request of Liars, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Shellac, The Horrors, The Locust and Fuck Buttons. Their defiantly underground pedigree derives from strong associations with the late, great Rowland S. Howard and UK industrial legend Paul Smith, whose label Blast First Petite (Pan Sonic, Martin Rev) has just released their acclaimed new album Work (work, work), in the UK/Europe. The album has been released locally through Mistletone Records / Inertia, and in the US on Ghostly International.
Listen to HTRK's new Work (work, work) album here!
HTRK will be joined for their Sydney show by Melbourne's Lost Animal, bringing the intoxicating pre-fab beats of their acclaimed new album Ex Tropical, plus enigmatic, one-man show Kirin J. Callinan to open the night in brooding style.

The genre-defying sounds of Daedelus reflect Alfred Darlington's fascination with the philosophies of dandyism and art for art's sake. His image and his music are coloured by this philosophy, which translates into a captivating and dazzling live show that will fly audiences enticingly close to the sun!
2011 started not only with his new album but the meticulous planning of a huge tour featuring guest vocalists from his Bespoke LP and with a spectacular visual show curated in part by Emmanuel Baird (of Manchester's Warehouse Project and Hoya Hoya nights) featuring a top secret new invention codenamed ARCHIMEDES which promises to yet again re-invent live electronic performance.
The most recent Daedelus release is Overwhelmed, a digital only EP out now on Ninja Tune and locally via Inertia.
Once again Low Motion takes over Goodgod for a night of Bass fueled madness. This month come down to witness a very special mammoth 3hr back to back set from Low Motion DJ's Preacha and Max Gosford. Expect all the best Bass jams covering the whole spectrum from UK house, garage, grime, dubstep and all the stuff that lurks around the fringes. Forward thinking Music that's still geared to the dancefloor.
it's Kicking off directly after Daedelus at 12 midnight!
LAST KINECTION "Next of Kin" Album Launch
SATURDAY NOVEMBER 26 -DANCETERIA 9pm / $15 on the door
Fiercely proud of their culture and history, The Last Kinection are extraordinary: uncompromising in their worldview, but with optimism and an outstretched hand. Their latest offering, Next of Kin is a strikingly insightful album. From the self-assured ‘Find A Way’ (‘Ngai Wudhim Marigurim Ngai Yirinbu: I am afraid but I’m still strong’); to the commanding ‘Together’ (‘If you could only spend a day in my shoes, maybe then we could talk, maybe then we could walk together’).
This is a record of defiance, laughter and reflection – beautifully articulate voices bringing an Indigenous experience into sharp focus with a blazing set of banging hip hop beats. Deadly award winners for ‘Best Band’ and ‘Best Single’ in 2011; ‘Most Out- standing Achievement in Hip Hop/R&B’ in 2009 and 2010; and Nay was ‘Best Female’ in 2010.
Guests on the record include some of Australia’s most lauded MCs, including Trials (Funkoars) and Briggs from the Golden Era label, Ozi Batla from The Herd, Rival MC from Impossible Odds, Lotek and Omar Musa. Simone Stacey, Nay’s former partner in Shakaya, appears on the lead single ‘Are We There Yet?’
The Last Kinection have created one of the most positively energetic records of 2011; the confronting, the passionate, the inspiring... Their new set will leave you breathless!!

STEP-PANTHER
Album Launch
THURSDAY NOVEMBER 17 -DANCETERIA 8pm / $12 on the door
They say, "Step-Panther is a band that wishes it were the Incredible Hulk, but it is just a band." But we think they're just being modest. Step-Panther may as well be three incredible Hulks playing Guitar, Bass and Drums in a sweaty suburbian garage.
Their forte is crafting up pummeling lo fi riffs and incredibly catchy hooks. They're latest video for "My Neck", a cut from their forthcoming album, shows exactly why they're so bloody good, and why they've been generating heaps of buzz! 3 Bros being bros. Unpretentious, good time rock & roll. Part grungy garage, part snotty punk, part rolling surf rock.
Help them launch their debut EP alongside Dune Rats, Pear Shapes, and Bloods DJs on the in-betweens. This is summing up to be one of those rowdy Goodgod nights where the Danceteria gets flooded with garage rock energy. Don't miss it!
RHYTHM & BOOZE
Big on rhythm, easy on your wallet!
THURSDAY NOVEMBER 17 -FRONT BAR 8pm / FREE
Rhythm Makers:
ERIC SHORTBREAD
DJ HEY MAN
As the sun gets sunnier, the nights get boozier. And when the nights get boozier, the fellas and the honeydips come out in search of that rhythm. It's the ta-ta-tapping of the feet they're after, the rock and leans, the swaying of the hips. It's that feeling that starts in their toes, slowly bubbling all the way to the the nod of their necks. Then, just like that, they're shakin at light speed with their hands going walkabouts!
Only two men are capable of answering these calls. Only two men with more soul than the mississipi, more grooves than an 808 drum machine, and more booze than the beer baron are capable. These men are...
ERIC SHORTBREAD & DJ HEYMAN
With a sack full of records, and booze too cheap to say no to, these men will fill your Thursday nights with a guaranteed good time at a price your wallet will thank you for! Plus a rotating cast of honorary rhythm makers to keep ya on your to0es (literally).

Sights and Sounds is the title track from the much anticipated debut album by Sydney four piece Made in Japan. The album is the result of year's worth of toiling, culling and polishing tunes. MIJ get comparisons to post-punk bands of the early 90s like Ride, Stone Roses and Slowdive but the fellas cite modern indie bands like Foals and Bombay Bicycle Club as influences too. We reckon they sound great with plenty in the tank to go far!
Check out the stellar new video for Sights and Sounds ~

+ The Harpoons
+ Songs Duo (Max & Ela)
There’s something in Melbourne fourpiece Melbourne foursome Dick Diver (featuring members of UV Race, Boomgates and Total Control) launch their debut album New Start Again on Chapter Music. combination of widescreen Australian sweep, 70sNew York punk edge and scratchy 90s indie rock that transcends influences to become truly rare and exciting.
The band started out with guitarists Alastair McKay and Rupert Edwards sharing songwriting in a classic Forster & McLennan style, but have since opened up to contributions from wise-ass bassist Al Montfort (UV Race, Total Control) and laconic drummer Steph Hughes (Boomgates, Children Collide).
Debut EP Arks Up was released in 2009 as a limited edition 7″ vinyl single with an accompanying CD (featuring extra tracks), to community radio adoration and Triple J rotation in Australia. The band scored shows with Steve Malkmus, Jeffrey Lewis and a slot on this year’s Boogie Festival.
Now debut album New Start Againsees the band in more collaborative mode, adding extra instruments to their palette, growing and changing and getting even more amazing. It’s warm and understated, shot through with casual grace – and already an Australian classic!
SATURDAY NOVEMBER 12 -DANCETERIA 11pm / $20+BF from Resident Advisor
FRED P
+ Ken Cloud
+ Simon Caldwell This one's for lovers of authentic New York House! Fred P, Fred Peterkin, aka Black Jazz Consortium is one of the head figures of the current New York City house music renaissance, along side contemporaries Jus-Ed, DJ Qu and Levon Vincent. Fred P's embodies the word 'deep'. It is the single word that ties the elements of Fred's thoughtful, soul laden, psyschedlic house music driven by a raw machine funk.
As a DJ, Fred crafts an effortless groove spanning sounds from soulful chord driven house through to tougher techno sounds, prefering a longer set to take the dancefloor on a fantastic journey. His podcasts for RA, XLR8 and Modyfier have brought him cult like status, and to dancefloors as hallowed as Japan's legendary Labyrinth festival
His productions as Fred P and Black Jazz Consortium have carved a niche in the deep house community, producing music that is born from classical house roots, full of analog synths, drum machines and Detroit influenced chords and keys. It's at once simple yet crafty, emotive yet funky, strange yet beautiful, but always, always, deep.
We are very excited to have Fred play for a 3+ hour extended set, supported by Ken Cloud and Simon Caldwell.
UNDERLIGHTS
THURSDAY NOVEMBER 3 -DANCETERIA 8pm / $12 on the door
It may have taken several trips to the Southern Highlands, battling wind storms, power failures and falling trees, but with a swag full of new material Underlights are happy to say it was all worth it.
With the guidance of legendary producer Paul Mckercher ,and in the homely surrounds of the now dearly departed Big Jesus Burger studios in Surry Hills, Underlights are keen to give us a little taste of they're debut EP. The first single "Now That You're in Love" was instantly picked up by Triple J and added to high rotation, and in the coming weeks the guys will soon be the Unearthed feature artist.
Richard Kingsmill gave it a veryrare 5/5 stars as did Unearthed director of music Nicole Cheek, which is really saying something!
Underlights are very excited to be hitting the biggest little stage in Sydney to showcase the results of what so far has been a fantastic ride.
Ay! Go and cop their latest single for free via bandcamp ~
When Emma steps out on stage, everyone in the room is simultaneously aware that they are about to witness something special. She has the profound ability, something well beyond her years, to hold the audience in the palm of her hand, as they sit in silence, hanging onto every note. Her endearing tales that accompany, contrast her delightful personality to the depth and maturity of her songs.
As we move into the tail end of the year, things arent letting up for the extremely talented songstress, Emma Louise. Shortly after her notable wins at the Queensland Music Awards, the announcement has come for her first national tour starting this November.
Along with her chaotic touring commitments, Emma has returned to the studio in her homeland of Cairns to record her second EP with producer Mark Myers whom she worked with on her debut. This release is expected before the year is out.
Check her out for yourself! Jungle is a delightful slice of contemporary folk-pop, taken from her forthcoming EP. Up for download! ~

Just in time for Summer, Sydney’s finest indie-electro-popettes, Convaire return with their highly anticipated EP, The New You. Equal measures quiet childhood fairy-floss nostalgia and loud, barefooted Summer festival romance, The New You is a sparkling indication of what Convaire do so exceptionally well– the art of creating synth-happy, ‘80s inspired, sticky-sweet pop songs.
Inspired by the likes of Talking Heads, Friendly Fires and Phoenix, Convaire were first given airtime by local Sydney radio heroes, FBo Radio.
Two singles, over one hundred shows and a few tambourine shakes later, Future Classic saw potential In John Towey’s vocal likening to The Cure’s Robert Smith and the energy of the synth-loving Slattery sisters. Cue Dan Talbot on bass and Nick Coppola on drums, and you’ve got what media are calling “a band that wouldn’t be out of place coming off a stage in Brooklyn.”
The New You is available in an EP + vinyl package, which is exciting enough to warrant a shoe shuffle and a couple of hand claps!

We've got them doing 2 sets; 1 full of their hip thrusting originals and a special late night set will see them in full covers mode. They've only ever unleashed these covers upon a couple of unsuspecting Bar Mitzvahs, but now it's your turn to revel in the greatness that is a COLLARBONES COVERS SET.

MARNIE STERN (USA)
THURSDAY OCTOBER 6 -DANCETERIA 8pm / $25 via MOSHTIX
MARNIE STERN (USA) + UNITY FLOORS Marnie Stern is a rising star in todays music landscape and boy can she shred. But what makes Stern better than any of the other hundreds of guitar wizards is her uncanny ability to somehow transform the most complicated guitar acrobatics into beautiful and concise pop. Hers is an art suitable for everyone from the harshest critic to your Mum and kid sister.
Coming from the Upper East Side of Manhattan, Marnie admits she didn't listen to "good" music (her words) until she was 23. The first thing she heard that made her head spin was Sleater-Kinney, followed a few years later by Hella, Boredoms, Melt Banana, etc. A Don Caballero video introduced her to the fingertapping technique she now uses expertly. For the last several years she has played guitar for "at least" three hours a day because she feels guilty when she doesn't play. And it paid off, Marnie is one of the rare artists who was signed to KRS after sending in a demo tape. Marnie Stern has a REAL personality. Listen to any of her records and you quickly realise Stern lives in between the lines of chaos and harmony.
"Stern is a genre of one - art-metal math-rock bubblegum pop... There's plenty here for musicians to analyze and dissect with envy, but first and foremost, this is an album for the body and the soul." - Pitchfork
BANG GANG + SLOW BLOW PRESENT... "THE (DEEP) ACID HOUSE"
FRIDAY OCTOBER 7 -DANCETERIA 10pm / $10 all night
BANG GANG - Buttfuck & Dangerous Dan SLOW BLOW - Dream Catcher & Jungle Snake
+ SOFTWAR
+ FINGER PRINCE
Well, we can almost guarantee this one is going to get a little (read: completely) out of control. Our resident disco hooligans, SLOW BLOW are teaming up with Sydney's prodigal sons of debauched techno THE BANG GANG...
Here's the word, straight from their twisted tongues ~
"After many extended dance floor ramblings (much like the extended edit version of a conversation), Slow Blow and Bang Gang have finally pulled their now rather pungently scented fingers out of their blow-holes and decided to put on a party in full collaboration-style force.
Expect the expected which you can expect will be totally unexpectable. And dress for some physical action as this party will not stop til we have all given more than our fair share of bodily fluids to the dancefloor.
To maximise this pleasurable co-existence in a single space they will be inviting a few friends down to help the experience move forward into new un-explored deep acidic discoido territory. Sydney techno senior citizens The Finger Prince and junior fluff cultivators Soft War are in for the bonanza too.
Be there, be a square, be unfair, dance on a chair, put your hands in the air and fuck the speakers til your dick falls off."
CABINS + TEETH & TONGUE
SATURDAY OCTOBER 8 -DANCETERIA 9pm / $12
CABINS
TEETH AND TONGUE (MEL) + GOOCH PALMS
Melbourne's Teeth and Tongue and Sydney's Cabins cordially invite you to a one night only, a special event, a co-headline at Goodgod Small Club.
Cabins have emerged from the swampy underground to play just a handful of shows - testing out new material on unsuspecting crowds. With a set of mostly recent songs, un named, un recorded mixed in with tracks from their debut mini album 'Bright Victory' this is set to be a good night. If you have yet to see their live show this is certainly one not to be missed, If you have then we'll see you there.
Melbourne outfit Teeth and Tongue return with new single 'Vaseline on the Lens', taken from the sophomore album Tambourine. Together with long-time collaborator Marc Regueiro-Mckelvie (guitar) and Damian Sullivan (bass)
armed simply with an old 505 drum machine and an electric guitar, Jess Cornelius weaves her songs through pared-back rhythms and hypnotic guitar lines, creating a diverse and layered sound with dark and mysterious undertones. Goodgod welcomes them back with open arms after a phenomenal show earlier this year and are proud as punch to host this single launch.
To top it off Sydney's Gooch Palms will be supporting with catchy tunes and a cheap mixing desk. Gooch Palms debut 7" La Cucarachas Stole My Baby off their own label - A-noose Records is available now.
This is a match made in heaven, a perfect prom pair, peas and carrots and we would love you to join us at this double header. We have two words for this night, a promise if you will. Trance dance.
